Wire Balustrade Guide

Sturdy and sleek, our Wire Rope Balustrade System features made to measure stainless steel posts connected by wire rope infill with a cylindrical top rail.

• Garden, walkways or stairs

• Domestic or commercial projects

General rules apply including the height of the balustrade and the gaps allowed between each section. If the balustrades have a fall of less than 600mm to the area below, the regulations are usually more lenient or do not apply. If the fall is higher or for example a first or second-floor balcony, then you will need to make sure the range is closer to prevent any accidents. Horizontal wires are usually excellent for use on lower patios or commercial projects, as a general rule in domestic buildings they are deemed to create a ladder for which children may climb and therefore unsuitable.

Cables can be used with stainless steel, wood, a combination of both or even fixed directly into in situ structures.

​

Cables are usually set at 100mm centres to prevent an object of 125mm width from passing through. This is considered safe practice.

​

Wire balustrades can be integrated with glass balustrades using glass in areas requiring a higher degree of safety and security.
